I document my journeys by firstly collecting found objects, taking photographs and making sketches. This process of research then informs the production of larger three dimensional pieces, drawings and paintings in my studio. I do not always work on a conventional two dimensional surface often incorporating old tins, ceramic fragments and matchboxes in my work. The objects I utilise have a history of their own, having been on a journey themselves after time spent in someone’s pocket, on a shelf or in the sea. These objects are also used as framing devices to contain and sometimes magnify the subject matter. I like the fact that these objects have been remade, recycled and repurposed. 'A Summer Souvenir' features objects and subject matter discovered in my hometown of North Berwick.
